The circle visible from space
Mount Taranaki, on the North Island of New Zealand, is a large-scale circle that's visible from space: a stratovolcano with six miles of forest around it. But that didn't happen naturally. Oh, and there's a good chance that, in the next fifty years or so, it might explode.

The Largest Volcano Ever Is Waking Up in Iceland. Can We Survive It?
A shocking disaster has just befallen a small town in Iceland. Earthquakes, fissures, landslides, and lava flows have emerged from the roaring bowels of the Earth's crust. But, experts have predicted that all of this is merely a buildup to a cataclysmic volcanic eruption that may wipe the entire country off the face of the map. What is happening to Iceland's largest volcano? How catastrophic is the anticipated event? Can they survive it?

Air space closed over part of Iceland as Bardarbunga volcano begins erupting
Aviation authorities in Iceland have closed airspace around the Bardarbunga volcano after it began erupting beneath the glacier.
The country's airports remain open. The aviation warning code has been raised to red, the highest level, which signals a significant emission of ash is likely.
If the ice melts, there is a risk of flooding in the area north of the glacier.
The Bardarbunga is part of a large system of volcanoes in the centre of Iceland covered by a 500-metre thick ice cap.
